If you didn't know already - social media is a powerful and even perilous tool. The most recent example is our own city of Evanston, just north of Chicago, using Yelp and Twitter as exhibits in their reasoning for shutting down a bar that allegedly catered to underage drinking.

At a recent meeting of our Joomla Chicago group. The presentation was about search engine optimization (SEO), and the presenter said, "You want to align yourself with the keywords that Google has, because Google isn't just guessing what people are interested in; people tell Google what they're looking for!"

Arc aims at CMS leading edge with CMS Expo sponsorship

For the third time, Arc Technology Group will be the lead sponsor of a conference for the open source content management system (CMS) community to be hosted by the CMS Association.

CMS Expo 2009 will take place April 29 - May 1, 2009, in Evanston.

Taking JomSocial for a test drive

Yesterday we installed a trial version of JomSocial, and today made it available to a select group of testers (n=25), as the basis for a "Evanston Business & Technology Community."
